Vice Presidential Debate 2012

The Vice Presidential debate did what the Presidential Debate didn’t do, it was informative and entertaining for everyone who watched. For the Democrats, you had “Fighting” Joe Biden, the current Vice president of the United States and on the Republican side you have Wisconsin congressman, Paul Ryan.

Before I get into the debate I must first give a major vote of appreciation in the moderator from ABC NEWS Martha Raddatz, whom delivered a well-controlled debate with rules and boundaries. I thought she was fair and stringent on points and made sure that candidates didn’t veer from the questions she asked. Kudos to who ever decided to pick her for these debates, she mediated very well and un-bias.

On to the debate, I thought the debate was very well done on both VP Biden and Congressman Ryan’s part. I think they both elaborated their points and their rebuttals effectively. Of course, Joe Biden, was the fire and brimstone passion of the people as he would battling the slick, smooth good- looking congressman from Wisconsin. VP Biden, supposedly interrupted Congressman Ryan 82 times during the debate. Yes, someone was actually counting. I wonder how much they get paid for that job. Ryan came across a little shaky on foreign policy but did make valid points but lost me with the thought or idea of more troops in Afghanistan. VP Biden, even though he interrupted Ryan numerous times, he did refute every false accusation that was stated, line by line. He debated every point with facts and made sure the “american people” knew about “his friend’s” agenda sitting next to him. Congressman Ryan impressed me because he stood very grounded and did not get into banter back and forth with the vice president. Both sides, did take their shots, VP Biden more than Ryan but they both gave substantial facts on their points. This probably was the best vice presidential debate America has seen in years.

Vice President Biden did point out everything wrong with electing Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan but fail to layout a plan that Obama will utilize going forward nor did he address the questions of Congressman Ryan on why “America” is regressing instead of progressing. I think VP Biden was so “gun-ho” on bringing life back to the campaign that he made sure that he brought the issues to the forefront where the campaigns differ entirely.

The major points that are going to be deciding factors over the next 3 weeks:

* Abortion – Romney/Ryan believe abortion should be illegal unless rape/incest/harm to mother. Obama/Biden believe that a woman should have control over her body and that decision should be between her and a doctor.

* Budget deficit – Why hasn’t the Obama Administration had a balanced budget in 3yrs?

* Medacare and Medacaid – this issue is going to be touchy because it affects so many senior citizens. Romeny/Ryan would like to reduce the budget and set up a plan thru privatization to get lower rates in a competitive market..i.e a voucher program.

* Foreign policy – where is America going to stand in 2014 with Afghanistan and Libyia and Iran. Will troops still be abroad or will they be home.

There are way more points and issues then just these and I think you should do your research and whether you vote for Romney or Obama, just make sure you vote with an informed decision and not because you heard one sound-byte. #VOTE2012
