I don’t know if you have heard but there is finally a in-home hiv testing kit. Yes, you can test yourself for the low price of around $40 and wait 20 minutes for results. Whoa, now you have no excuse not to get tested and you can finally feel secure in the privacy of your own home as most people feel uncomfortable with getting tested especially in the African American Community. So what does this mean? It means you will soon be able to go to your local retailer and buy a home hiv testing kit and be able to test yourself or your partner at your leisure.

The question is does this take the place of an actual doctor and what are the percentage of accuracy for the test. Studies are showing that it can detect the HIV 1 and HIV 2 virus in a person with a simple swob. It does not state if it can detect other sexually transmitted diseases. On another note, this does not give anyone permission to go out and start a “free love” revolution. I would suggest still be selective in who you choose to interchange bodily fluids or needles with if you choose to that. Please note, it does not prevent stupidity or pregnancy.
